Blues' Mason Named NHL's 'First Star'

Goaltender Chris Mason, who helped the Blues climb into a playoff spot, on Monday was named the NHL?s ?First Star? of the week, as reported by Yahoo.com. Mason won all four of his starts as the Blues jumped from 11th to eighth in the crowded Western Conference playoff chase. Canucks left wing Daniel Sedin earned the ?Second Star? award by recording four goals and four assists in a 3-1 week. The ?Third Star? honor went to Hurricanes goaltender Cam Ward, who won all three starts.

Brodeur Notches Shutout No. 101

Devils goalie Martin Brodeur is closing in on another record after recording the 101st shutout of his illustrious career. New Jersey defeated Minnesota 4-0 on Friday night, Brodeur's first game since he set the all-time wins record. Terry Sawchuk has the NHL record for shutouts with 103. "It's a lot of shutouts," Brodeur said. "That record is proof of commitment by an organization to play well defensively. You can't do it by yourself. With the amount of shutouts that I've got, you've got to consider that the team is doing the right things."

Martin Brodeur posted his 552nd win and passed childhood idol and Hall of Famer Patrick Roy for the most career victories by a goaltender in NHL history. He made 30 saves in the Devils? 3-2 victory over the Blackhawks on Tuesday night, as reported by the Associated Press. The win came in Brodeur?s 987th game of a 15-year career played entirely with the Devils.

Devils goaltender Martin Brodeur matched Patrick Roy's all-time NHL record for goaltender victories at 551 in a 3-1 win over the Canadiens on Saturday night, as reported by AFP. Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist won his 30th game of the season on Thursday night in the team's win over the Predators. He is the first to win 30 games in his first four seasons and the first Rangers goalie to do in any four-season stretch. "It is a great feeling to be part of history," Lundqvist said. "The first four years have been great. When I look back on my career I will definitely think about this accomplishment. Part of this is because of my teammates, as well."
